Saint Vincent de Paul

The right team for a complex commercial project

Dave constructed the St Vincent de Paul premise in 2015/2016 in Victoria Street, Ashburton where I was project manager for the owners.  This was a compact building, occupying 100% site coverage on a small, difficult site with numerous foundation and adjoining neighbour issues.  Dave and his team carried out this work in a very diligent manner, completing on time and budget.

Dave is experienced in all aspects of heavy reinforced concentrate construction, tilt panel pouring and erection, and structural steel fabricated works.

I can recommend Dave McCrea.

A great build for a good cause

Saint Vincent De Paul, Ashburton

PROJECT

When their old building was damaged in an earthquake, charity organisation St Vincent De Paul needed a new space to run their op-shop. Dave McCrea stepped in to run the project, designing and constructing a new building – and making sure everything came in on time and under budget.

The St Vincent De Paul project was one of our largest commercial jobs apart from dairy sheds. Because it’s located in a busy retail area in central Ashburton, roads were open throughout the project, and our health and safety planning had to be on point.

Completed in 2015, the concrete panel building with steel roof includes a retail shop and storage areas for incoming goods. After a long design and construction process, the St Vincent De Paul team was thrilled with the outcome.

Key details:

  • Commercial/retail building
  • Concrete panel walls, steel frame roof
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Large floor area with various sections for sorting, storage and processing food bank and donated items
  • Large roller door access for the collection and drop off of large items

Nest Tree House

Many obstacles, but yet they still delivered to a high standard.

“We loved working with Dave and his crew. They got our vision from the start, were organized, determined and dug in and got the job done – despite issues with weather, covid delays and tricky designs. Dave ensured his team were on time, the building (s) completed to a high standard we wouldn’t hesitate to work with Dave McCrea Building again in the future.

Not your average treehouse

Nest Tree House, Hakataramea Valley

PROJECT

A steep site, unique details, and a remote location made the Nest Tree House build challenging for Dave and the team – but the end result was worth the effort.

The project involved building boutique treehouse accommodation on a farm in the beautiful Hakataramea Valley. The sloping site and raised design made it more complex than most builds, with post foundations built on a steep part of the section. The client also requested some unusual features – a large deck overlooking the valley, swing bridges between the deck and the main building, and a sauna built on a separate raised platform.

Nest Tree House was completed in March 2021 and has been a popular getaway for tourists and locals ever since.

Key details:

  • Single bedroom accommodation with bathroom, built to a high standard
  • Foundation built on piles, on a sloping site
  • Sauna
  • Wooden swing bridges connecting parts of the build
