Dave McCrea Building has been our builder of choice for a number of years. His building business has built a large dairy shed, staff accommodation and finally our own five bedroom homestead.
His workmanship was of a very high standard while still managing to have our work completed on time, which was very important particularly around dairy shed timing with calving etc. Our house was in the Registered Master Builders House of the year for Mid and South Canterbury in 2019 where he gained a Silver Award.
All three projects came in on budget and there were no surprises. Communications were good and variations were costed in a timely manner.
Dave McCrea has a good team of builders and labourers who worked well together and were a happy and approachable team. There was good coordination with sub-contractors and suppliers and they are obviously a well-respected building firm, with many contacts in the construction industry. We would highly recommend Dave McCrea Building.

We have known Dave McCrea, in his capacity as a builder, for more than 20 years now. He has been responsible as a builder, foreman and then as the owner of his own company for several of our projects over this time.
The most recent has been the construction of a significant holiday home for us in Twizel, which was completed in October 2017.
Due to the location and the climate, this was not the easiest project to complete, but I am happy to say that Dave and his team managed the project efficiently and in a very professional and timely manner. Dave’s work ethic and attention to detail are excellent. He has great respect from other tradesmen in the industry and ensured what any that work on his projects have a high standard of workmanship and reliability.
As with anything, communication is a large part of any project and especially between a builder and his client. Dave ensured throughout that we were kept up to date with progress, and if there were any changes we requested or concerns regarding any aspect of the build, he consulted with us to ensure that what was done was exactly what was intended.
We were confident throughout our build that our house was being built to a high standard of workmanship, and as a result, we now have a holiday home that we love and of which we are very proud in every aspect. We would confidently recommend Dave McCrea Building Ltd to anyone wanting a home built to a high standard that has been fairly priced and is completed with the time frame expected.

Dave constructed the St Vincent de Paul premise in 2015/2016 in Victoria Street, Ashburton where I was project manager for the owners. This was a compact building, occupying 100% site coverage on a small, difficult site with numerous foundation and adjoining neighbour issues. Dave and his team carried out this work in a very diligent manner, completing on time and budget.
Dave is experienced in all aspects of heavy reinforced concentrate construction, tilt panel pouring and erection, and structural steel fabricated works.
I can recommend Dave McCrea.
